It is pertinent that the Indigenous Yoruba People know the difference between Yoruba Land, in its full meaning, and the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba.

DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF THE YORUBA IS THE NEWEST NATION IN THE WORLD, 55TH SOVEREIGN NATION IN AFRICA, NEWEST SOVEREIGN NATION IN WEST AFRICA Share on X

This is very important in the light of the fact that it’s imperative for the natives, that is, the indigenous people of a territory, to know the exact boundaries of their indigenous territory.

Colonisation brought bastardization of the boundaries of the Yoruba indigenous territory, not only by cordoning off parts of the true territory of the Yoruba from one another, into different so-called “countries” created by the Western invaders of our land; but, also, even those parts within the same so-called “country” are, through the European evil of divide-and-rule, often made to look like they have nothing in common.

In the case of the entire territory of Yoruba indigenous land, therefore, we would say that the boundaries that lie outside the space that the colonialists named in 1914 as “Nigeria” will not be looked into in this particular piece. That would be a subject for a later time.

However, with regards to the evil amalgam named “Nigeria,” everybody, more or less, knows where the map shows as the western boundary of the illegal Nigerian contraption (out of which the D.R.Y came out) below the Niger River.

That is, actually, the Western boundary of the FULL Yoruba Land, but within what used to be known as Nigeria, even as the current Democratic Republic of the Yoruba territory does not actually cover all of the TRUE extent of the indigenous Yoruba territory, is the western boundary of what used to be called Nigeria, but lying south (all of the south) of the Niger River.

This, like we slightly referred to earlier on, is because certain parts of the true extent of the territory of the Yoruba Indigenous People, lies outside what was carved out by the colonialists as “Nigeria.” Those parts, therefore, are not currently in the newly independent Democratic Republic of Yoruba.

The Northern boundary of the FULL Yoruba Land, within the erstwhile Nigeria, is the Niger River. Similarly, the Eastern boundary of the FULL Yoruba Land is the downward course of the Niger River.

However, those parts of the FULL Yoruba Land (whether people realize it or not) which were cut off from their Yoruba brothers by reason of the creation of the so-called “Mid-Western Nigeria” in 1963, are also not currently included in the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba, the reason being that when they “left” in 1963, it was via a documented process and only by a redeeming documented process would it be legally possible to “return.”

Moreover, there are other parts of the indigenous Yoruba territory which by Nigeria’s political brigandage have been condoned off into what they call “Kebbi State” as well as “Niger State.” Those parts will, by the grace of Olodumare, also be recovered at the right time.

In light of the latest development, the declaration of Sovereign Independent Yoruba Nation, on 20th November, 2022 and the Proclamation of Sovereignty of the now Democratic Republic of the Yoruba on the 12th of April, 2024, has now restored the territorial power to proclaim and take over the entire landmass of Yoruba starting with:

  • Ìpínlẹ̀ Eko (State of Eko) formerly Lagos State
  • Ìpínlẹ̀ Ogun (State of Ogun) formerly Ogun State
  • Ìpínlẹ̀ Osun (State of Osun) formerly Osun State
  • Ìpínlẹ̀ Ekiti (State of Ekiti) formerly Ekiti State
  • Ìpínlẹ̀ Ibadan (State of Ibadan) formerly Oyo State
  • Ìpínlẹ̀ Ondo (State of Ondo) formerly Ondo State
  • Ìpínlẹ̀ Oyo Empire (formerly known as Kwara State plus the part of Kogi State that lies west of the Niger River).

Thus, within the territory that used to be called Nigeria, the eastern boundary of Yoruba Land (the full Land) is the Niger River; it is, also, the Northern boundary of the FULL Yoruba Land within what was called Nigeria before the exit of the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba.

Note: The River Niger path down to the Atlantic represent the borderline between Yorubaland (or Yoruba Country or Yoruba Nation), which is now the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba and Nigeria.

But, because of the temporary reasons mentioned earlier, parts of this territory are currently encroached upon by Nigeria.

We have 100 per cent assurance that we’ll recover all by the Grace of our God Almighty; begining from the land grabbed for Niger State (the so-called Kebbi State) to where the River Niger enters the Atlantic.

Although by documentation, these parts where the river joins the Atlantic, which together make up Edo State, Delta State and some part of Bayelsa State left in 1963 and can only return by a separate documentation to join the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba. This is because, the agreement entered was a deceptive move to divide and conquer the strong hold of the Yoruba, but this is beyond the scope of this article.

So, the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba, as delineated today and represented before the international community, does not yet cover all of Yoruba indigenous land but covers only the seven states of Èkó, Ibadan, Osun, Ogun, Ondo, Ekiti and the State of Old Oyo Empire.

Hopefully, we’ll bond together with all of our blood soon as one indivisible!
