The Democratic Republic of the Yoruba (D.R.Y) has a present reality on ground – the reality of its defined territory being currently encroached upon by the Federal Republic of Nigeria. As a result of this, permit us to bring the word “Nigeria” up in our discussions and news reporting as it is today. This is necessary so our reader is not left in doubt as to the references in our write-up. Otherwise, we ordinarily are not the news reporters of Nigeria. Nigeria and the D.R.Y only happen to be neighbouring countries.

We need to make certain things clear, and we shall continue to make them clear, until all relevant heads that need to know this fact have it properly embedded within their skulls.

Firstly, Nigeria is NOT the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba and Yoruba is not Nigeria.

Nigeria, as at today, has 28 states-Abia State, Anambra State, Imo State, Ebonyi State, Enugu State, Gombe State, Bauchi State, Borno State, Adamawa State, Taraba State, Yobe State, Jigawa State, Sokoto State, Zamfara State, Kaduna State, Kebbi State, Niger State, Katsina State, Nasarawa State, Benue State, Plateau State; Rivers State, Bayelsa State, Cross River State, Akwa Ibom State, Edo State, Kano State and Delta State.

On the other hand, the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba has 7 states – the State of Ibadan, the State of Osun, the State of Eko, the State of Ogun, the State of Ondo, the State of Ekiti and the State of Old Oyo Empire.

Ibadan is the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba, while Abuja is the capital of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Nigeria is NOT the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba and Yoruba is not Nigeria. The Democratic Republic of the Yoruba is the newest nation in the world as at 2024.

As at today, the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba is a sovereign country, a Sovereign Nation, on its own – completely different from Nigeria and not in any way connected with Nigeria.

However, Nigeria, recalcitrantly, is still occupying the D.R.Y space in complete defiance of the fact that the D.R.Y is, today, a different country from Nigeria, and especially so since the 12th of April, this year (2024) when the Government of the D.R.Y was sworn in, in the city of Ibadan, capital of the D.R.Y and under the Head of Provisional Government, Mobolaji Olawale Akinola Omokore.

Because Nigeria, therefore, still encroaches on the territory of the D.R.Y, thus making it seem to the unsuspecting ignorant persons that the territory of the for operatives and sympathizers of the unholy D.R.Y (Yorubaland) is still part of Nigeria, it gives room Nigerian occupation of the D.R.Y territory, to advance all kinds of shenanigans as to divert attention AWAY from the fact that the D.R.Y is now a sovereign nation different from Nigeria.

One of the ways in which you see this type of shenanigans is when Nigeria’s government officials, be they in the executive or legislative arm, make public statements that give the impression that the territory of the D.R.Y is a part of Nigeria, by “including” Yorubaland, even if passively so, but definitely understandably so, in whatever plans or programs that Nigeria has for its citizens.

This is particularly annoying because these government officials, and particularly the ones that parade themselves as “governors” in Yorubaland, Yorubaland and the territory of the D.R.Y, being know for a certainty that they are illegally occupying “Nigeria’s” operatives, despite these very governors, as far back as December 2022/January 2023, that in their official capacity, having been already informed, the Indigenous Yoruba People stand upon the Declaration of Independence of the Sovereign Yoruba Nation (now known as the Democratic Republic of the Yoruba) from Nigeria, and that, under the banner of OMINIRA YORUBA 2022, we request that they vacate office and hand over all assets, property and paraphernalia of office to the New Sovereign Independent Yoruba Nation (now known as the the Reclamation exercise, copies of which Notification Democratic Republic of the Yoruba).

These names were sent to not only the Federal Government of Nigeria but also to international bodies including the United Nations.

Notification/Reclamation Letter, without any response It has been more than a year they received this from them, and after waiting for such long time, the D.R.Y swore-in its government on the 12th of April, 2024, having earlier the same day Proclaimed its Sovereignty, thus activating its Sovereignty, its power of/for Self-Governance and Self-Government.
